Batron

Batron is a brand name of Data Modul GmbH, a German design and manufacturer of Display and associated products. Data Modul was formed in 1972. The company achieved ISO9001 in 1994. The company now sells its innovative brand of Batron Character and Graphic LCD's throughout the world.

Batron offer a wide range of alphanumeric and graphic LCD Modules, from Industry Standard Modules through to some unique sizes and options.

In 2003 the Company introduced some market leading products such as the HQ series where the modules utilise a dot gap of just 15 microns instead of the 'Industry Standard' of 30 microns. This HQ technique improves the contrast, viewing angle and overall look of the display. Customers requiring Extended Temperature Modules in their application can now benefit from using HQ Modules with easyFluid© which eliminates the need for a Temperature Compensation Circuit or Negative Voltage Generation.

Batron have also introduced a comprehensive range of modules in both Character and Graphic formats with white, blue, red, amber, green and 'pure' green LED backlights. These options are available in both 'standard' positive mode (black characters on a white or coloured background), or negative mode (white or coloured characters on a black or blue background).

BTHQ Series In order to improve the contrast, the viewing angle and the typeface of the display, Batron have produced the new HQ (High Quality) technology. Most 'Industry Standard' character and Graphic LCD's are produced with a dot gap (gap from dot to dot) of 30 microns and the Character LCD's have a 5 x 7 dot matrix. The new HQ series is specified with 15 microns. Instead of a 5 x 7 dot matrix the Character LCD range now have a 5 x 8 dot matrix. Therefore the gap from dot to dot is smaller, which results in a higher quality of the typeface. The modules are available in both 'industry standard sizes and unique formats. They are also available in a choice of backlights from the standard yellow-green to white and blue LED backlights.

Batron Modules with easyFluid© No need for Temperature Compensation or Negative Voltage Batron has developed alphanumeric modules with special easy fluid. The easyFluid© is designed for applications requiring a temperature range of -20°...+70°C. Modules with an extended temperature range are normally supplied with negative voltage. To guarantee optimal contrast over the total temperature range it is necessary to have temperature compensation in the circuit. However modules with easyFluid© have the advantage of being operated with a positive single 5V! Thus eliminating the need for a temperature compensation circuit - It is also not necessary to readjust the contrast voltage over the whole temperature range. The following modules within the BTHQ series are available with easyFluid©: - 1 x 16 character module with 5 mm character height - 2 x 16 character module with 3, 5 or 8 mm character height and an I2C bus interface version - 2 x 20 character module with 5 or 8 mm character height - 2 x 40 character module with 3 or 5 mm character height - 4 x 20 character module with 3, 5 or 8 mm character height/p> BTHQ-technique. Contrast, viewing angle and the quality of the face are improved thanks to manufacturing in new HQ-technique: - Dot gap of only 15 micron instead of 30 micron. - 5 x 8 dot matrix instead of former 5 x 7.

Batron COG Modules Batron manufacture a number of COG modules that are now utilising the HQ and easyFluid© Technologies. They are available in reflective and LED backlit options with a choice of backlight colours.

Batron HQ Italic Module Recognising the drive in the Electronics Market for new and unique displays Batron have introduced 2 x 16, 8mm Character Height LCD's with ITALIC Characters, bringing together Batron's HQ Technology with a new LCD appearance. The modules are available in reflective or LED backlit with a choice of LED colours.
